Housekeeping Aide
The position involves a variety of shifts including days, evenings, Public Holidays and every other weekend.
Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, the Housekeeping Aide maintains high standards of cleanliness and sanitation throughout the Home by cleaning and sanitizing rooms and furnishings in assigned work areas following established policies and procedures. Ensure Residents’ safety by following established policies and procedures.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Cleans and disinfects Patient and Resident rooms
- Cleans and disinfects washrooms
- Empties waste receptacles
- Sweeps and mops floors
- Cleans and Disinfects Nursing Stations, Clinical and Non Clinical spaces, and Public areas
- Office Cleaning
- Vacuums carpets
- Participates in facility meetings as assigned. Attends in-service education programs
- Other duties as assigned by Supervisor
QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum Grade 10 education
- Previous health care cleaning an asset
- Must be able to meet the physical demands of the position
- Must have working knowledge of WHMIS
- Ability to work safely, following established safety practices and procedures
- Demonstrates individual initiative to work independently and as a team player
ENVIRONMENT
- Working with cleaning agents and chemicals
- Working in areas were there may involve Residents with social behavior challenges
- Working environment has pets
- Exposure to hot and cold temperatures and noise extremes
- Requires heavy duty cleaning and lifting
- Requires using a ladder and reaching above head
